I might mention that my Die Hard battery has been replaced under warranty several times. I feel guilty about that because I'm sure the problem is the Z wrecking the batteries and not a manufacturing issue with the batteries. (And yet I keep going back for the free battery replacement...) Every time, Sears says their diagnostics show no problem with the starting and charging systems of the car. Yes BobbyT, I know circuits, so I'm using the term "series" correctly, and my meter is hooked up as you describe. I'm baffled on why I couldn't find the drain also, and yet the meter sat there showing 8 amps of draw the entire time, as if I was pulling fuses on a different car. I have a stock stereo system. I have an aftermarket alarm. My stock clock is blank most of the time, dim some of the time, and full brightness some of the time. I can't imagine 8 amps is getting consumed by a bad clock! I'm starting to think that maybe the aftermarket alarm is wired without a fuse (that I can find) and the alarm is failing in a way that drains the battery. The alarm was installed while a previous owner had the car, before my time, so I don't know how competently it was installed. It is an Alpine alarm; at least my key fob says Alpine. I guess if I can't see how a clock could eat 8 amps silently, I also don't see how an alarm could eat 8 amps silently. An alternator, I could see eating 8 amps, but like I said, I pulled all the fuses an links I could find, and a stock part should be protected with a fuse or link, right? Ugh.
